Working with Our Clients and Business Partners as a Consultancy Team

What's critical in the process of change management is the change specialist working closely with Business Partners to ensure that the changes designed fit the current culture and will bring about the needed improvements that can be easily managed on a day by day basis.

Change can be a messy business.  Not too many people like being pulled gently from their comfort zones.  It's probably realistic to realise that you may not be too popular.

It's important to recognise that change is a political process and not everyone will have your agenda for change at the forfront of their mind.

Reality is Walking in someone else's shoes

To gain a view of reality one has to experience the change from the perspective of those most impacted by it.  Usually, its the operations or the line people who get hit with implementing a change.  And often, they have had no part in designing, approving and implementing the changes.  How could you expect compliance when they don't feel they have any part in driving the change?

Change relies on Allies

Start building a buddy system.  Get to know the tragets of your change.  They are not your adversary.  You want to win their support and turn them into your trusted colleague.  Be truthful and explore implications from the perspective of others.

Ask yourself - what's it like receiving this.........change?  What does it say about the perceptions others have what we are trying to do?

How can I build a Change Team that functions like a high performance car such as a Jaguar XJS or Audi A8?

From this platform and mindset we can make a firm foundation of trust to drive the change.  You might want to ask what can i personally commit to help others shape the future?  What deeds do I need to do to prove my illustrate the benefits and the advantages of the change?

If you want a good team to survive then build a strong Psychological Contract with all those in the change arena.  This article is a good start.
