I have worked on long term assignments with Plant Managers and Quality Managers, Mechanical Engineers in Iowa, Chicago, Wichita, France, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands and the UK; Lawyers in Scotland and England, NHS Directors in Wales, England and Scotland, HR Directors and GM’s in Leisure, Banking, Finance, Manufacturing, Auto Finance and many more industries and sectors.

 

Current Client in a Difficult Environment

 

I have had the good fortune to be working with the Deputy CEO of an organisation in the City who has to take the current organisation and double its revenue in the next three years whist maintaining only marginal increases in its operating costs.

 

Over lunch last Friday we discussed the strategies open to him. Currently, he is migrating into the role of CEO after being appointed to his role as Deputy CEO 9 months ago.

 

During our time together, we discussed how he could work more effectively with his ‘high powered’ Board of Trustees, how to better manager his direct reports, and his relationship with the CEO.

 

Over coffee he sketched out an action plan and even a week after our discussions (we have been working together over 21 months and meet once a quarter) we are able to see how this could come to fruition.

 

Business Mentoring

 

Business mentoring can work in a variety of contexts and with a variety of goals ranging from focusing on profitability and ROI of key projects, to developing customer retention and acquisition strategies, generating and winning new accounts and Clients, acquiring and merging with other organisations, setting up Joint Ventures, re-structuring redesigning organisations for significant improvement in whatever metrics you wish to focus.
